Slayer!
Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, January 31, 2006Today I was organizing the cluster f**% of photos I have cluttering my computer when I came across this Slayer art that someone submitted last year for an etnies art contest. If I was the judge the artist would have won, but I wasn't so it has just been sitting in my computer, not doing anyone any good. So here ya go...you can download the full sized image right here—perfect for wallpaper use. >> Slayer!
Who can name the Slayer album that the image came from? Maybe there is a prize in it for someone....

Custom Design etnies Online
Posted by: Cropley | Thursday, January 12, 2006This is pretty much the best thing everrr! You can now custom design your own etnies online and have them delivered right to your door.
I just designed these Calicut's and if you like 'em you can order a pair of your own custom Calicut designed by me. Design code - 118245
But if you think my design sucks then go design your own pro model, it's easy. If you want everyone to see your custom designed etnies, go through the online design steps and just post your design code in the blog. I will check through the codes and post a picture of your shoes in the blog sometime next week.
etnies Team Photo Shoot
Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, January 11, 2006
- No, this is not a Satanic sacrafice... Garrett's just throwing a tasty veggie burg on the barbie.
A lot of the etnies team has been in Cali this week doing photo shoots and also filming for the upcoming etnies DVD. Yesterday we went up to the hills of Malibu, the location of a top-secret pool owned by etnies founder Pierre Andre Senizergues, to ride, shoot some pix and have a little BBQ.
As you may know a lot of the BMX team is vegan (no cows were harmed in the making of Ruben and Taj's shoes), so this barbeque was a little different from a normal one where burgers and hot dogs are actually made of meat. Check out Sandy Carson's new blog to see what happened when Rooftop "had enough" with all the veggie dogs and hummus...it's not pretty.

2006: etnies Turns 20!
Posted by: Brink | Monday, January 9, 2006
- 20 years young...
etnies was born in France in 1986 to meet the footwear needs of skateboarders and that very same passion and commitment to action sports has led to many innovations over the last 20 years. Accomplishments span from creating the first-ever pro model skate shoe, the Natas, to the development of the first and only biomechanics lab that creates technology that enhances rider performance and reduces injuries, the Sole Technology Institute. etnies is driven by action sports and has given back to the action sports community since its inception through building the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest, supporting skateparks all over the world, organizing and hosting contests and supporting the finest amateur and professional team riders.
“It is hard to believe that etnies is already 20 years young,” said Pierre Andre Senizergues, CEO/Owner/Skateboarder for etnies. “As a skateboarder, it is great to see how etnies has been a pioneer and innovator of the action sports community over these two decades."
Stay tuned to etnies.com throughout 2006 for plenty of surprises as we'll be celebrating all year long!

Holiday BMX Team Report
Posted by: Cropley | Thursday, January 5, 2006
- Ruben fullpipe
Mike Escamilla spent Christmas at home sick as a dog hanging with family. Check out Mike’s section in the new RIDE BMX video Livin’ in Exile, as well as his appearance on FUEL TV’s half hour show Daily Habit.
Taj Mihelich went on a small road trip home to Michigan for Christmas with his good friend and filmer Stew Johnson. Roscoe got f’d up by one of Taj’s families dogs and has to wear one of those stupid cone things on his head until he heals…he has a bunch of stitches but should be fine in no time. Following the holidays Taj did a filming road trip back to Austin with Stew, Aaron Ross, Kurtis Elwell and Bret Walker to film for the upcoming etnies DVD. Along the way they hit many good spots while dodging some crappy weather. The DVD is due out at the end of 2006. Taj’s shoe the Roscoe has a new colorway available.
Ruben Alcantara is home in Spain spending the holidays with his family and getting ready to head out to California for the etnies team photo shoot and dreaming of all the cool shit he is going to come up with and film for the etnies DVD. Ruben's shoe the Terranea is available now and also has a new color, so check it out.
Sergio Layos has been home for the holidays spending time with family and friends. He has also been working harder than he should be at getting his moms restaurant up and running. It opens today, Thursday, January 05. In addition to all of this, Sergio shot a TV commercial in his home town of Madrid
Jamie Bestwick has been back in the UK for the last couple of weeks enjoying time with family and friends and shooting plenty of photos of the winter wonderland while there. He’s been getting some riding in at Epic skatepark which he’s been enjoying immensely, as well as going to see plenty of football……er, Sorry!...soccer games. Jamie will be back in the US in the next week or so.
Josh Stricker just enjoyed quiet time with his girlfriend and family at home in Anaheim, California for the holidays. He got some riding done in the 909 with friend Robbie Morales and is planning to head back out to Austin sometime soon following the etnies team photo shoot coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Joe Rich spent time with family at home in Austin. He’s been riding trails a bunch and hanging with his good friend Ian Morris who was in town for the holidays trying to stay away from the crappy weather in the UK. Joe has also been keeping himself busy with T1 and taking care of orders while oiling the wheels to make sure things run smoothly.
John Heaton spent his time over the holidays home alone with Frank his dog because his Fiancé Andrea went home to Toronto for Christmas to visit family. He has been walking the empty streets of Vancouver and spent a lot of time working due to the holiday needs at 3RIDE. John also played some hockey and rode indoors at the igloo and outdoors at some cement parks
Morgan Wade has been home for the holidays with family, but headed down to Austin for New Years where he rocked the house so to speak. He’s still off of his bike due to the mono but should be up and running by the time you read this….so right about...now, I guess.
Dave Freimuth had reconstructive knee surgery two weeks ago and has been spending his time doing rehab and hobbling around trying to keep up with his son. Dave will also be out in California the end of January for the etnies team photo shoot.
Garrett Byrnes was down in Austin for a week to escape the harsh weather of New Jersey and hang with the T1 crew—he’s just happy to not be working. He returned home Monday and has been back working his job, riding at the local indoor skatepark and looking forward to this weekend when he will be heading out to California to be part of the etnies team photo shoot that’s goin' down. Check out the latest issue of DIG…or maybe it should be called Garrett due to all the photos that he has in it.
Sandy Carson just recently partially tore and sprained his MCL in his knee and has to take it easy for a while, but he should be fine with no surgery and just physical therapy. Sandy should be good to go in about a month. With the injury you’d think it’s a quiet time for Sandy, but he is still busy as hell working on issues of DIG as well as working on and redesigning his own website. Friend and sponsor Ian Morris was in town for the holidays and he stayed at Sandy’s so a lot of fun was had by all. Sandy will be heading out to California for the etnies team photo shoot this coming weekend which he will shoot photos for as he can not currently ride.
