The Cowboys Invade L.A.

The etnies Cowboys & Carnage Tour moved on to L.A. Friday and Saturday where there was a signing at 9Star Saturday night. First thing Saturday morning Povah took Morgan to get his teeth checked out after his face plant at the etnies Park the day before. They met back up with everyone later in the day and Morgan was sporting a nice bloody gap where his tooth once was and a doctor’s order telling him not to ride for a couple days.

We then piled 10 dudes in the etnies van and went to go find some spots to ride. Downtown LA totally sucks for that! We got kicked out of every spot within 10 minutes, but usually quicker. I managed to get a few video clips and put them together in this little video (only from L.A.) for your viewing pleasure. Mind you, this is my first ever attempt at editing and filming a video, so please excuse the shaky filming, unreadable captions and shitty editing. Enjoy!

(Don’t worry; Mike Manzoori, etnies filmer extraordinaire, will have some really good footage from the whole trip... none of this shaky low-quality stuff I’m making you suffer through right now.)

According to the schedule the team should be in Oroville, CA today for a signing at Greenline Cycle.

Cowboys & Carnage Update

The first stop of the tour started off last night in our own back yard at the Lake Forest Skate Park. Things started off pretty well as everyone was cruising around getting warmed up and having a good time... then Morgan got the "Carnage" part of the tour out of the way right off the bat by hanging up on a big no-hander out of a quarter and landing straight to face from 10 feet up! The clean up crew quickly quarantined the area as Morgan walked away to tend to his injuries.

Yesterday was stop 2 with a signing at East County BMX in San Diego followed by a demo at the Clairemont Skate Park.

Today the game plan is to find Morgan a Dentist (he cracked a tooth in half) and then find some spots to ride in LA after hours.

Next stop is a signing on Saturday, 7:00 pm at 9Star in LA. See ya there!

Jamie Bestwick stopped by the etnies office the other day and I sat down with the man himself for an interview... but we kept getting interrupted and kicked out of meeting rooms!!! No respect around here, haha.

Anyways, Jamie touches on a couple interesting subjects including X Games judging, how vert ramps are changing (and the people that can't ride them), the DEW tour, annoying people that interrupt interviews, retiring from X Games, his son riding bikes and what’s next for Jamie Bestwick…

Morgan Wade Takes BMX Park Silver

Morgan Wade... what can you say. What he was throwing down in X Games park on Saturday was amazing... right off the bat he hucked a HUGE transfer followed by big pocket air over a gap. In between all that his run was filled with everything... he was going wide open the whole time with original lines and crazy tricks. It was good enough for Silver. Congrats Morgan!

X Games Silver for Bestwick!

Congratulations to etnies team rider Jamie Bestwick for pulling off a Silver medal in vert Friday night! If you watched it on TV or in person you can attest to how huge Jamie was going on every air (still going 7ft.+ after bangers), using the whole ramp and doing little as far as setup airs. If not for some slight changes in judging criteria at the request of only a couple riders, Jamie could well have walked away with yet another Gold. Oh well.

Best Trick was another story. The stuff Kagy and Robinson were throwing down was amazing... double flair!!! Jamie was over it and just threw some big airs for the crowd every once in a while and they dug it. And that was about it for vert. Here's some photos...

Bestwick Wins Again...

Jamie Bestwick won the vert finals at the LG Action Sports in Birmingham, England over the weekend, but only after messing up a whip flair at the end of his first run and getting a low score. Simon Tabron put down a solid first run to set the bar, so the pressure was on Jamie to come out with the goods in run 2. Surprise, surprise... Jamie rose to the occasion and took the big WIN! Congrats Jamie!

X Games is this weekend and you can bet that Bestwick will be on his game with some new stuff to throw down for vert and vert best trick to defend his two Gold medals from last year.

AFI Contest Winners!

Congrats to Donna fom Olympia, Washington for being the Grand Prize winner of the AFI Giveaway. She won herself an autographed AFI CD set and free etnies gear. Runners-up were Christian from Dearborn Heights, Michigan and Yeonsil from Dunnellon, Florida. They both nabbed themselves some free etnies. Congrats, y'all. Thanks to all who entered.
