Taj Is Busy Making Tools!

Ever see one of those DK Random wrenches? I think they are such a cool idea, and so I decided to make something similar on my own. A tool for traveling that would include all the tools I need for my bike.

I started with an old fork and the tools I wanted to include.

- "Hi, Odyssey, I'd like to warranty a pair of forks.'

Then I chopped up some tools to be welded on to my tool. After a little prep work I took all the parts to my friend Blaze who builds the Liquor Bikes made here in Austin.

- This is a rough idea of what it would look like.

He welded on my bits and parts with the utmost perfection.

Next I carefully spray painted it and then picked it up and ruined the paint because it was wet.

If you check the picture above you'll see that it has a deep socket 17mm for pegs, and inside it has a 8mm, 6mm, 5mm, and 4mm allen sockets which are all the allen wrench sizes on my bike, and a Peregrine spoke wrench. Also welded on the outside is the adjustable wrench which works as a pedal wrench and as a wrench for brake adjustments. Basically every tool I need while traveling all in one Vision Street Wear hip pack-sized unit.

Jun 7, 2007Taj your genius on and off your bike never ceases to amaze me. Another fantastic creation on your part, you should really look into puttin those things into production. They'd sell like some North Philly crack. Again genius.

Jun 8, 2007I love to see it when people have an idea and see it through to fuition - esp when its a bike thing! on a tech level it was interesting to see Blaze got the cast metal adjustable spanner to weld good to the 4130 tube - every day is a school day! great photo log - enjoy using ya tool!

Jun 11, 2007it's a great idea. I'm curious to see how it holds up. If it does I think that you could seriously sell a lot of these things. i hate taking so many tools out when I ride. The less stuff clinking around in my bad the better.
jack
Jun 12, 2007yea i deff would buy one make it. deff a neat tool. better having all tools together then 25different heavy tools at the bottom of your bag.

Jun 12, 2007bueno, es un gran ingenio que ahorra espacio en un bolso, pero desperdiciar una horquilla (fork) wuao. en mi pais cuestan muy caras, son pocos los que acceden a una horquilla de bmx odyssey.

Jun 12, 2007Fantastic idea! Takes the DK Random Wrench to the next level. Here my suggestions: 1) Build it in the USA from high quality metal 2) Sell it without sockets, that way we can just go to Sears and get the ones for our bikes, maybe include the spoke wrench 3) Size the tube so you can fit a wide variety of socket combos 4) Put this baby into production
