The following is a letter from Leonardo DiCaprio about the film, The 11th Hour, that opened in theaters in Fall 2007. The documentary features Sole Technology and etnies owner and president, Pierre Andre Senizergues and his efforts in going green, including the etnies SEED Project.
Friends,
I am writing to tell you about my new environmental film, “The 11th Hour.” The film documents the environmental crises we face and the solutions we must begin to implement.
With the help of over fifty of the world's most prominent thinkers and activists, including reformer Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, and Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, “The 11th Hour” documents the grave problems facing the planet's life systems. Global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans' habitats are all addressed.
However, the most powerful element of “The 11th Hour” is not a portrait of a planet in crisis, but an offering of hope and solutions. The film ends with a call for restorative action through reshaping human activity.

etnies Iceland Jacket Review Breaks Bones!

Joe Sketch over at Crossfire went to the hospital wearing our new Iceland Jacket. While at the Kings College Accident and Emergency ward, Joe put the jacket through pretty much every test you could think of and even invented new uses for it; like converting the hood into a handy note holder and head rest.
Unfortunately Joe broke his scaphoid, but in doing so he wrote a very entertaining review.
Jimmy Levan Update!

Just a quick update on Jimmy's progress and his fund raising so far since
his accident.
The good news is that Jimmy has been progressing pretty well since he came out his coma last week and sounds better each time I talk to him on the phone. He has been transferred from the ICU at Morristown Memorial Hospital to the JFK Brain Rehabilitation Institute and is up, shuffling around and piecing his memory back together. It'll be a long road to recovery but we are lucky that he is in the best rehab center for his injuries and has great
friends behind him.
The bad news is that Jimmy's insurance WILL NOT cover his rehab program which he just checked into. The estimated total of the rehab bills is estimated at $70,000 at least and that's coming out of his family's pocket.
As you know EmpireBMX is matching donations to the Jimmy fund and now Odyssey is matching what Empire matches, so we are talking trippling whatever you donate!

The Empire fund match ends at the end of the business day on Friday so if you haven't donated to the fund already, now would be the time to do it!
If any of you have websites or blogs, feel free to post any of this information and photos to help Jimmy out, we have to give this total a shot!

The etnies Two Wheel Tour is featured on this week’s FUEL TV The Weekly Update, and we wanted to give you the heads up. Below is a list of the highlights of the show, including a one-on-one interview with Jamie Bestwick, and show times on FUEL TV.

The unique philanthropic event, etnies Two Wheel Tour, raises money for FMX riders Chris Ackerman and BMX Stephen Murray, both of whom are paralyzed, and also benefits the family of deceased FMX rider Jeremy Carter.
Furthermore, in Berlin, Germany, many of the world’s top BMXers competed in the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds. Winning the event was Alessandro Barbero followed by Tobias Wicke while Morgan Wade and Bjorn Mager tied for third.
In the Weekly Update one-on-one interview, Jamie Bestwick talks about his life on a BMX bike and this year’s AST Dew Tour Championship.

Hey Everyone,
As most of you know, our brother Jimmy Levan took a very serious knock to head the other week filming for the new Odyssey DVD. Jimmy suffered a serious skull fracture and has been in an induced coma since the accident. Jimmy is slowly recovering and doctors should be waking up in the next few days and at the hospital in New Jersey.

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was "exciting." Posted by: Brink | Wednesday, November 14, 2007I’m sure by now most of you are familiar with the life-changing injuries that Stephen Murray sustained back in June at the Baltimore Dew Tour.
This accident occurred just days prior to Props Rock-N-Roll Tour hitting the road. Obviously, Stephen Murray was heavy on our minds the entire trip. Like almost everybody in the BMX world, we wanted to do what we could to help out.
By the end of the trip, I had talked to some of the riders and we decided that we would auction off some of their bikes to help out the Murray family with their mounting medical bills. We even had a few guys who weren’t on the trip who wanted to lend a hand and donate their bikes.
I am happy to tell you that we have a total of 11 complete bikes to auction off. All of these bikes are autographed by the rider who is donating it (except for the DC/SE P.K. Ripper). Each bike will also come with a autographed photo of the rider with the bike.
Below are the dates that each bike will be auctioned off (each one will become a hotlink when auction is running - so check back often).

Trails, in my opinion, are the best kind of bike riding. It is a feeling like nothing else. Your'e hauling ass on the ground one second and the next you are 15 feet in the air. In that split second there's only one thing on you mind.. landing smooth. To me that is nirvana!
After years of talking, I finally made back East to ride the best trails in the world, and to top it off some of my favorite people where going to be there. The trip consisted of Joe, Ruben, Sergio, Garrett, Jay, BF and Mike Manzoori (the man that made Grounded). Mike was filming Ruben for a thing for fuel.

The sessions were amazing and the days always seemed to end to quick. The only bad thing was Sergio taking a slam. He was in the hospital for a week afterward with some internal bruising. Get well soon buddy!

Sorry that I didn’t take more pictures of riding, but I was too busy riding. Hope you all enjoy the pictures of the non-alcoholic Bush Party session (yes it tastes like shit). And last but not least. “I’m Ron Burgundy?”

Here it goes:
My last two weekends have been polar opposites, but both equally fun. Two weekends ago I went on a road trip to Iowa with my friend Jeff K. from Milwaukee and his friend Jake. I picked them both up in Milwaukee on Friday and we set off to Iowa with just an atlas and some phone numbers of locals. Why Iowa? Let the pics speak for themselves, the park was in Davenport proved to be my favorite park to date and the street in Iowa City and Dubuque pretty nuts. Jake shot a bunch of photos on the trip here is very small sample. I'm sure a few others will turn up at a later date. Thanks Jeff, Jake, Bobby Parker and the Dubuque, Davenport and Iowa City locals for an awesome weekend.

And then there was the Baco Jam in Orlando this past weekend. Free Beer, Free Tattoos, Free spirited young men and women, mustaches, costumes, and a crazy contest. Mesh skatepark once again was host to one of the most entertaining BMX events of the year. I wasn't sure the one prior could be topped but it was. Thanks Chad!
