The contest and the practice sessions were a lot of fun. Everybody was having a great time riding with each other and some riders really stood out... like Ronaldo from Hengelo, who isn’t a familiar face for most riders but I’ve seen him ride before. He threw in some big suicide no handers over the volcano and qualified with a couple of flair attempts. In his semi final run he went for a big wall tap to barspin in but didn’t pull it.

Local hero Franky Elshof went loose caboose. He pretty much sleeps at this park. He did some crazy ass tricks, like superman seat grab air, 3Whip to fakie and truck driver over the spine. But it wasn’t enough to finish in the top 3.
Style king Virgil was dialed as a madman. With nice looking 540s, turndowns to fakie and 360 inverts he came out 3rd.

There he was again... Channon ‘el toro’. He is on fire lately, winning every event he enters. He kept his head calm and did what he had to do to win with all kinds of 360 combos... 360 back paddle and 3whips and, to top it off, spine flip and a huge flair. He won his first BOK.
Results:
1 Channon Balorian
2 Mark Vos (etnies)
3 Virgil
4 Franky Elshof
5 Barry Köhne (etnies)
6 Roy van Kempen
7 Tim Frijters (etnies)

Brett Walker Reminisces!

Posted by: Alex | Thursday, September 4, 2008Dave Freimuth fills us in on the latest...
On my recent trip to Florida with the Albe's guys, Chad Kagy made a call to DMC and hooked me up judging the Cleveland Dew Tour. I was a little nervous at first... judging can be a big job especially when there's 10's of thousands of dollars on the line and dudes fighting for Year End points. But when all was said and done it was one of the best jobs I've ever had. And there's definitely nothing wrong with having the best seat in the house for some of the best BMX riding in the world right now.
Probably the highlight for me was the Vert Comp. I don't get to see Jamie ride a vert ramp in person very often, so when I do it's always a treat. And the fact that Kagy has been killing it lately kinda puts a fire under Jamie's butt and it shows. Portland was one of the most exciting vert comps I've been to in my life. I can't count how many times in the last few years I've seen Jamie turn his second run into a victory lap after already locking down the win with his first run... So seeing him have to throw down for his second run in both Cleveland and Portland was amazing. In Portland Chad pulled out the win, but I can only imagine what Jamie's last run would have been if he had managed to stay on his bike the entire time. My hats off to those two for pushing vert and putting me on the edge of my seat comp after comp.
Here's a couple pics I took from the last two stops of Dew Tour... My favorite being the one of Catfish trying to hit his head on the ceiling of an elevator when it first starts to drop... he didn't and I won ten bucks, which disappeared quick when we got to Sassy's! Good times. Thanks DMC! And I promise to ride Park in one of the Open's next year!
Oh yeah, me, Patie, and Thompson went to Packers family night a couple weeks ago and got rained on and didn't care... man, I can't wait for NFL football. GO PACK GO!

10th Annual BMX BOK
Posted by: Alex | Wednesday, September 3, 2008etnies presents the 10th BMX BOK
Saturday the 20th of September the BMX BOK contest (Burnside Open Championship) will take place for the 10th year in a row! This is one of the biggest BMX park events in the Netherlands. Burnside shop and indoor skatepark is one of the few indoor parks that opens its doors, at any time, to BMXers and has thus long been a haven in Netherlands! So it’s time to celebrate Burnside’s support of the BMX scene!
Check back after the contest for a full report on the etnies BMX BOK. Until then, here's a taste of the etnies Dutch BMX scene featuring Tim Frijters:
